Introduction and Definitions

Throughout this document, a "page" refers to a single creative of promotional material or customer information, to be displayed by the application's CMS (Content Management System) functionality. Pages can be uploaded in any commonly supported image file format and are played out together with up to 4 live train arrival and/or departure "boards" on a "screen". Screens are arranged into groups. Pages can be played out across all screens in a group (Group Pages) or an individual screen. A "Display Window" is the front of house presentation intended to be displayed in full screen or "Kiosk Mode" by a web browser.

Custom Board » Local Storage Screen

A single screen instance with board functionality only and using the local storage services of your web browser to save screen and board settings. All settings are encoded into the Display Window URL, so any changes made to the Local Storage Screen will not affect an open Display Window. This means that the Display Window URL can be copied and used elsewhere, such as on another device or with 3rd party digital signage playout systems and services. When logged in to an account use the Save function to move the screen from local storage into the first Custom Board Group.

If an account contains a single group it is opened automatically (accounts are created with a "Default Group"), otherwise the Groups panel is displayed:

Use the Open function to open an existing group, or New Group to create and open a new group:

Displays the Group, Screens and Group Pages panels:

Use the Settings function to open the group settings dialog from where the group name can be changed. Use the Display Window function to open the display window for an existing screen in this group. Use the New Group Page function to upload a new group page. Use the Open function to open an existing screen, or New Screen to create and open a new screen in this group:

Displays the Screen, Boards and Pages panels:

Use the Display Window↓ function to open the display window for this screen. Use the New Board function to add a new board. Use the New Page function to upload a new page. From the Screen panel, use the Settings function to open the screen settings dialog:

Display Window Mode can be set as Standalone (loading page is displayed with opportunity to invoke device native full screen mode) or Embedded (content displayed instantly, for use with 3rd party digital signage playout systems and services).

Layout can be set as Full Screen - Landscape, Full Screen - Portrait, Split Screen - Landscape or Split Screen - Portrait. In Full Screen modes (CMS disabled by definition), the screen will cycle through all boards. In Split Screen modes with CMS disabled the screen will cycle through all boards in pairs. In Split Screen modes with CMS enabled, the screen will cycle through all boards in the portion not allocated to CMS.

Font Size can be configured between 70% and 130% of default. This setting should be used in preference to any browser supported scaling in order to to preserve page quality. Before adjusting the font size, consider whether best results may be achieved by adjusting the number of services displayed per page (see Board settings).

Split Position can be set between 25% and 75% of width (Landscape) or height (Portrait) to allow for optimal distribution of the display area between board(s) and/or pages. Positions suitable for creative content produced in 16:9 or ISO 216 (A series) aspect ratios against a display aspect ratio of 16:9 are indicated.

When a split screen layout is selected, CMS can be set to enable page display in either the left/upper (←↑) or right/lower (→↓) segment. Uploading a new page will automatically select left/upper if not already enabled.

From the Boards panel, use the Settings function to open the board settings dialog:

Walking Time can be set to prevent services from being displayed that could not be met in the time taken to reach platform level at the station from the display location.

Background Colour can be set as Black, Blue (traditionally used for departure boards) or Green (traditionally used for arrival boards).

Configure Services (per page) and Pages for best results taking into account service frequency and the level of detail displayed.

Select the Fastest Train To tab to set popular destinations to be highlighted in a separate panel above a Departures (Summary) or Departures (Detailed) board:

From the Pages panel, hover over or click an existing page and use the Settings function to open the page settings dialog:

Display Cycles (each cycle is 20 seconds) can be configured between 0 (page temporarily disabled) and 20.

Scale can be set to Height: 100% (default), Width: 100% or None.

Playout Schedule can be used to set a start and/or end date for the page, and also to set the days of the week and hours of display during each 24 hour period if required. Settings default to continuous playout. Pages not currently scheduled to playout are displayed grayed out on the Pages panel.
